The Black Hills

The Black Hills mountain range are so named because of how the pine trees make them look dark from a distance. Black Elk Peak (7244 feet) is the highest peak east of the Rockies. I was always curious why the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally was such a big draw being in the middle of South Dakota. Now being in the area, I understand. It is beautiful.

I took this photograph yesterday in our campground near Hill City, South Dakota. I used a Nikon Z5 camera using a NIKKOR Z 24-70mm ƒ/2.8 S lens (1/125 secs at ƒ/3.2, ISO 100, 70mm). I edited and cropped the image in Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop.
