We saw a couple dozen bison grazing when we drove through Theodore Roosevelt National Park yesterday. These massive herbivore can weigh up to 2200 lbs. Although they run up to 40mph, it was a hot day and we saw them barely move. Although called “buffalo” by many (including sometimes me), there are no buffalo in North America, just bison.
I took this photograph yesterday in the South Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park near Medora, North Dakota. I used a Nikon Z5 camera using a NIKKOR Z 100-400mm ƒ/4.5-5.6 VR S lens (1/500 sec at ƒ/5.6, ISO 100, 400mm). I edited and cropped the image in Adobe Lightroom.
