Western Meadowlark

In Indiana, we saw a meadowlarks once a year if we were lucky. In the short time we have been in Montana we have seen dozens. These beautiful bright yellow birds are larger than a robin and seem to be constantly singing. It is my favorite member of the blackbird family.

I took this photograph earlier this month in Benton Lake National Wildlife Refuge near Great Falls, Montana. I used a Nikon Z5 camera using a NIKKOR Z 100-400mm ƒ/4.5-5.6 VR S lens (1/500 sec at ƒ/4.5, ISO 100, 400mm). I edited and cropped the image in Adobe Lightroom.
